Scott Building redevelopment at Douglas and Hillside set for takeoff

Andrew Rennison of Primex Investments said in total the project will deliver 151 new rental homes; 17,000 square feet of ground floor commercial space will remain in the heritage building.
Rennison said the project will start with structural and seismic upgrades to the building, which was built in 1912. “If all goes well, we expect to be welcoming residents sometime in 2023,” he said.
A development permit was issued by Victoria city council last August, and the proposal has the blessing of the Burnside Gorge Community Association, which said the redevelopment fits with local area plans for a large urban village and amenities at the Douglas-Hillside corner. ....

Vancouver Island retailers report long delays for new appliances, furniture, vehicles due to COVID-19

Shopping for new appliances, furniture or a vehicle? Vancouver Island showrooms are full but customers may be caught off guard when they’re told how long it’s going to take to get their product from the manufacturer.
Once again, you can thank the pandemic for those delays.
Eric Barney, a sales manager with Landsdowne Appliance in Victoria, says what used to take between two and four weeks is now taking up to 12 weeks.
“It’s kind of unpredictable,” he says.
It all stems from the manufacturing supply chain.
“Fridges seem to be the worst because they’re always in need and when you need one, it’s not, ‘I can get one later,’ it’s ‘I need one right now,’” Barney adds. ....
