KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 The direct supply of Covid-19 vaccines to states by interested sponsors does not have to go through the federal government, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said today.
He clarified that vaccine supplies through Putrajaya is just one of the options available, and that state governments could source their own as long as they are approved by the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA). ....

GEORGE TOWN, May 18 Penang state exco Chong Eng has called for the procurement of the Covid-19 vaccine to be decentralised to speed up the rate of vaccination in the country.
The DAP Women’s wing chairman said the Health Ministry should allow respective state governments and the private sector to procure the Covid-19 vaccines that have been registered with the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA). ....

Underprivileged students receive computers under Penang's E-Learning Programme

TOWN: A total of 794 students from low-income families in Penang have received free personal computers (PC), all thanks to the state-initiated “E-Learning Computer Programme”.
In May last year, the Penang government announced the establishment of the “E-Learning Computer Programme” task force dedicated to developing the education sector in the new normal.
Chairman of the task force, Chong Eng today said that since last year, some 1,000 applications had been submitted.
“Our task force has provided refurbished PCs to 794 primary and secondary students in Penang under the programme while remaining applicants would be placed on the waiting list for this year’s batch of applicants,” she said at a press conference here today. ....
