Solano County loans MidPen $200,000 for affordable apartments
FAIRFIELD The Solano County Board of Supervisors agreed to loan MidPen Housing Corp. $200,000 toward the purchase of the Sunset Pines Apartments in Fairfield.
As currently rented units become available, MidPen intends to create 35 units of affordable housing – with a 55-year affordability restriction – at the apartments located at 1705 Sunset Ave. The complex has 36 units.
Affordability is defined as 80% of the area’s median income, which for a four-person household is $73,950 per year. The 36th unit would be for the property manager.
The funds would come from the General Fund Committed Housing/Senate Bill 375 reserve, which was established “for purposes that include addressing temporary and long-term housing needs for children, families, special needs clients, and older, indigent and disabled adults,” the staff report to the board states. ....
