'Dangerous' 1.6m croc removed from pond near primary school

A 1.63m crocodile was removed from a pond near the Emu Park State School on Wednesday night.
The croc’s removal by the Department of Environment and Science came as a different 3.5m crocodile was spotted on Farnborough Beach on Thursday.
Department of Environment and Science Southern Wildlife Operations manager Frank Mills said a member of the public saw what he or she thought was a crocodile in a pond on Hill Street, and reported it to the Livingstone Shire Council.
“Wildlife officers confirmed the presence of the juvenile crocodile in the pond on Hill Street and advised the nearby Emu Park State School and installed recent warning signs at the site,” he said. ....

Wildlife officers from the Department of Environment and Science (DES) are investigating a reported crocodile sighting at Ibis Park boat ramp in Gladstone on 12 April 2021.
Wildlife officers conducted a spotlight survey of the area last night and found no sign of the animal. Recent warning signs have been installed and wildlife officers will continue monitoring the area.
Remember, you are responsible for your own safety in Croc Country. Local fishers are reminded to properly dispose of fish scraps and never discard them at boat ramps.
DES is asking members of the public to report crocodile sightings as soon as possible by calling 1300 130 372 or using the Croc Watch App. DES investigates all reports it receives. ....

A second crocodile sighting reported in the Gladstone region is a reminder for residents to be croc wise.
Department of Environment and Science (DES) wildlife officers conducted a spotlight survey at Ibis Park boat ramp on Monday night after a reported crocodile sighting in the area earlier that day.
Wildlife officers found no sign of the animal.
Recent warning signs have been installed and wildlife officers will continue monitoring the area.
Local fishers are reminded to properly dispose of fish scraps and never discard them at boat ramps.
Members of the public are urged to report crocodile sightings as soon as possible by calling 1300 130 372 or using the Croc Watch App. ....

At least one crocodile displaying dangerous behaviour has been reported near major Townsville infrastructure, with rangers called in to monitor the situation.
It s believed two crocodiles have been spotted on numerous occasions along the fence of the RAAF base and Townsville Airport.
It s unknown if the crocodiles have attacked a person, but a statement from the Department of Environment and Science said they are monitoring the situation closely.
