Drug addiction - Newspaper

THE increasing use of drugs among youngsters, as highlighted in the letter ‘Hub of narcotics’ (June 17), is disturbing. Contrary to the belief, drug addiction is not common in the upper class alone; it is just as common, if not more, in the middle and lower segments of society. Moreover, it has spread to educational institutions where students ‘go high’ away from the supervision of teachers.
Stress and anxiety are the biggest contributing factors that lead to addiction. People find relaxation and pleasure in it as it takes away the power to think rationally. Gradually, it becomes their addiction and they find it hard to live without it. Many people resort to illegal activities and commit crimes to satisfy their addiction.

Plastic bottle money box
This is regarding the wonder craft “Plastic bottle money box” by Asif Ali (YW, April17). I like the craft very much mainly for its usefulness. Saving money is a good habit and making a money box out of plastic bottle is a wonderful idea.
I am really thankful to the writer and the YW team for publishing a useful and informative DIY.

Reading dispels mental barriers!
This is with reference to the article “Reading dispels mental barriers” by Noor Zahra (YW, March 20).
Those who don’t know the importance of reading should read this article and they will realise their mistake of not giving importance to reading. Reading plays a great role in sharpening one’s mind and keeping one informed about the world we are living in. Moreover, reading helps us to understand others and other cultures.

Quality education

Quality education
April 29, 2021
The Balochistan government needs to take immediate steps to improve the province’s education system. In Jath, a small village in the province, there is only one primary school. Also, there is only one teacher who is responsible for managing the school. It is virtually impossible for one person to teach all classes.
The government needs to look into this matter and recruit more teachers. The authorities must realise that every person has a right to quality education.

Education for all

Education for all
April 18, 2021
I am a resident of Jath – a small village in Balochistan near the Kech district. It is unfortunate that there is no concept of girls’ education in this part of the country. The only girls’ school in the area was shut down some seven years ago – in 2014. The authorities concerned have not taken any action to date to reopen the school.
The Balochistan government should look into this issue and reopen the school. Everyone should have access to quality education regardless of gender.
