The planned White Water Rafting Centre in Dublin has won the support of tourism and sporting organisations as the city council prepares to make a new funding application for the controversial project.
The council has already asked for expressions of interest for the €25 million project which is planned for Georges Dock in the IFSC.
Both Sport Ireland and the Olympic Federation of Ireland say they will support a funding application as it would offer the country s only training facility for the Olympic sport of canoe slalom.
Fáilte Ireland also said it will support the development as it will add to the range of things to see and do in Dublin Docklands and has the potential to become a motivating visitor experiences playing an important role in encouraging visitors to stay longer in the area . ....

A woman in her forties, who was seriously injured in an incident on January 20 last while walking on the pedestrian walkway, between Georges Dock and Custom House Quay, IFSC, Dublin 1, was pronounced dead at The Mater University Hospital today, February 3.
Gardaí await the outcome of a post-mortem examination to determine the course of further investigations in the case.
A male juvenile arrested following this incident has been charged and before the Courts.
Gardaí previously appealed for any persons who may have witnessed the incident or who were in the vicinity of Custom House Quay, George s Dock, Harbourmaster Place or Connolly train station, Amiens Street, Dublin 1 between 9.15pm and 10.00pm on the night of Wednesday, January 20, to contact them. ....

A woman in her 40s seriously injured in the course of an assault on January 20th while walking on the pedestrian walkway between Georges Dock and Custom House Quay, IFSC, Dublin 1 was pronounced dead at The Mater University Hospital today.
The woman was stabbed in the assault.
Gardaí await the outcome of a post-mortem examination to determine the course of further investigations in the case.

A woman who was stabbed during an assault while walking in Dublin city last month has died.
The woman, aged in her late 40s, was walking home from work between Georges Dock and the Custom House Quay on January 20th at around 9.30pm when she was attacked.
Gardaí say she was pronounced dead at the Mater University Hospital in Dublin on Wednesday.
They say they will await the outcome of a post-mortem examination to determine the course of further investigations.
A male teenager who was arrested three days after the incident is due before the courts later this month. ....
