Plea bargain is deemed conviction: Javed Iqbal

ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal on Saturday said the plea bargain is deemed conviction as the accused confesses his guilt in writing.
“The accused requesting plea bargain not only confesses his guilt in writing before an accountability court but also agrees to return all looted money,” he said in a statement on Saturday. He said the accused can apply for plea bargain as per Clause 25-B of the NAB Ordinance and the NAB examines the plea bargain application as per law. The liability of the accused is determined on the basis of his looted money with markup and after determination of total liability of the accused, the NAB forwards the request of plea bargain of the accused along with his total liability for final approval of the respective accountability court. “The accountability court approves the request for a plea bargain. RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - Ambassador of Poland to Pakistan Mr Piotr A Opalinski called on General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) at GHQ, today.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), during the meeting matters of mutual interest, regional security and enhanced bilateral and defence cooperation between both countries were discussed.
COAS said that Pakistan values its relations with Poland which are anchored by mutual trust and profound historic foundations.
COAS further expressed that both countries have convergence of strategic interests on a range of security issues including fight against terrorism. ....

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - The President Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Golf Cup Championship concluded today at Lahore Defence Raya Golf and Country Club.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) was the chief guest in the concluding session of the tournament.
COAS appreciated the performance of players and awarded prizes to the winners. The COAS also inaugurated Raya Fairways.

A Mumbai court on Monday issued a bailable warrant against the actor for not showing up after being summoned
A Mumbai court issued a bailable warrant against actor Kangana Ranaut on Monday after she failed to appear before it with regards to a defamation complaint filed against her by lyricist Javed Akhtar.
The Andheri metropolitan magistrate s court had issued summons to Ranaut on February 1, reported the
Hindustan Times, directing her to appear before it on March 1.
However, the actor failed to show up on Monday, following which, Magistrate RR Khan issued a bailable warrant against her. He also posted the matter for further hearing on March 26. A lawyer involved in the case had earlier claimed that March 22 as the next date of hearing. ....
