Frances Pellegrino celebrates 100th birthday Feb. 5, 2021 FacebookTwitterEmail ALTON Frances “Fannie” Pellegrino celebrated her 100th birthday on Monday, Feb. 1 She was born at home on East Third Street in Alton on Feb. 1, 1921. Her family later moved to East Fifth Street. She is one of 13 children born to Antonino and Maria Marino Bellitto. She was introduced to her husband, Jim, by a dear friend, Annie Messick, at a bowling alley. He was born on The Hill in St. Louis and moved to Little Italy in Wood River in 1917 with his parents. Jim and Frances Pellegrino were married on Nov. 24, 1940 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Wood River. They lived on Korreck Avenue in Wood River for seven years. In 1952 they moved to their house in Rosewood Heights which was built by Jim Pellegrino. ....
