Sandwich glass artist to install a temporary sculpture at Dexter Mill

SANDWICH Standing upwards of eight feet from a pedestal, a glass-made obelisk that will emanate light during the night and glisten during the day is set to become downtown s newest art installation.
“At night it will be very bright, and in the daytime, it should kind of sparkle,” said Michael Magyar, the local artist selected to create the glass art sculpture.
The Glass Town Cultural District Committee voted their intent to sign a license agreement with Magyar to erect a three-year temporary sculpture that will be located next to the Dexter Grist Mill. Magyar has been operating out of the Glass Studio on Cape Cod, located on Route 6A in Sandwich, for close to 30 years. ....

Tributes to postmaster Musa Patel who has died of coronavirus

A MUCH-loved former postmaster has died of coronavirus.
Musa Patel, who ran the Bradshaw Post Office in Lea Gate for over a decade, was admitted to hospital two weeks ago and was receiving treatment in intensive care due to coronavirus.
But this week friends confirmed the heartbreaking news that Musa lost his battle with coronavirus on Monday.
Matthew Jones, managing director at the Purple Property Shop estate agents, grew close to Musa’s family after fundraising for him after the post office was targeted by burglars in 2015.
He visited the family on many occasions outside his house during lockdown and was devastated to learn of Musa’s passing from his wife, Ayesha, on Tuesday morning. ....
