Oregon City police say one of their officers was hit in the eye while deploying spike strips during
The officer ended up with a metal object in his eye. He underwent surgery and investigators are trying to figure out if that object was a fragment of bullet or something else.
Clackamas County deputies shot the suspect, Gerald Barnes, after he fired at them, according to the Clackamas County district attorney.
Barnes survived. He faces several charges including attempted murder. ....

Lincoln characterized the change as a retirement of sorts for him. After 20 years there, he hopes to move on to carry out community service here in the valley.
I was going to leave actually last year and the bishop asked me to stay on one more year because of the pandemic, Lincoln said. It s a bit unusual for a priest to be at one parish for 20 years. I ll be 75 by then. And I think it s time to move on to maybe a different aspect of my life, but also it s fair to the parish. Dec. 20 Barstow Assistant Fire Chief Sid Hultquist called former Battalion Chief Don Burgett a “sweetheart of a man,” who poured his “heart and soul” into his community for many decades.
“Don was one of the original pioneers of the Barstow Fire Protection District,” Hultquist told the Daily Press on Thursday. “He also spent much of his time serving the people at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.”
As the end of 2020 draws near, Hultquist was one of several community leaders who looked back and reflected on the passing of the 86-year-old Burgett. ....
