FICCI-BVMW to Airlift 1,500 Oxygen Concentrators from Germany

To counter the stressful covid-19 battle, FICCI, and its partner association BVMW (German Association of Small and Medium sized Enterprises) have come forward to support by effectively buying 1500 oxygen concentrators for private entities in the Indian Healthcare industry, as a measure to combat the current crisis. However, the first batch of the freight comprising the medical devices and accessories is expected to be airlifted from Frankfurt Airport today and would soon be available in various hospitals across India to help the patients in need.
As per to FICCI, this is the best example, that reveals that how important overseas partnerships are to hold each other’s back, especially in such challenging times. Indian mission in Germany, BVMW and FICCI put together a concerted effort to make it happen without delay. ....

NEW DELHI: As coronavirus infections rip through India, companies both big and startups are pitching in with everything from setting up makeshift hospitals to airlifting oxygen concentrators to making donations to procure medicines and ambulances. Joining the growing list of contributors in India’s fight against the second wave of Covid are Facebook, IBM, Hero MotoCorp, Vedanta, Paytm, SpiceJet, Intel, Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai.
Facebook promised $10 million to emergency rescue efforts. “I’m thinking of everyone in India and hoping we get this virus under control soon. Facebook is working with Unicef to help people understand when they should go to the hospital and giving $10 million to emergency response efforts,” said Facebook CEO Marc Zuckerberg in a post. ....

The effort to provide oxygen to Covid-19 patients received a further boost on Wednesday with the government deciding to procure 1 lakh oxygen concentrators for supply to high-burden States and giving approval for an additional 500 pressure swing adsorption (PSA) oxygen plants.
The day also saw many fertiliser plants committing to supply an additional 50 tonnes of liquid oxygen daily to hospitals and FICCI tying up with a group of German small/ medium industries to arrange 1,500 concentrators for private hospitals.
The decision to purchase 1 lakh oxygen concentrators was taken at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. These contraptions will be procured at the earliest using PM-CARES fund and given to high-burden States, an official statement said. The PM-CARES fund would also support the procurement of 500 PSA oxygen plants, using a technology developed by the Defence Research ....
