People have overwhelmingly backed our CM Jagan’s three capital cities theory, said YSRC spokesperson Ambati Rambabu.
The opposition TDP bagged two civic bodies – the Tadipatri and Mydukur municipalities. The result of elections to the Eluru Municipal Corporation was withheld in view of a stay by the Andhra Pradesh high court, which is hearing a case related to the process of updating the voters’ list.
Asaduddin Owaisi’s AMIM, which contested elections for the first time in AP, won just one municipal ward in Hindupur town.
YSRC s victory in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Guntur is being seen as a big setback for TDP. N. Chandrababu Naidu s party didn t reach double digits in many towns. Although TDP won with a majority in Tadipatri and Mydukur, YSRC is likely to bag the chairperson s posts there with the help of ex-officio votes. This, in effect, means that YSRCP will control all the civic bodies in the state. The Janasena-BJP combine, too, came a cropper. ....

KADAPA: YSR Congress had a thumping landslide in Kadapa district, where barring Mydukur, it amassed absolute majority in all municipalities, the results for which were declared on Sunday.
In Mydukur, Telugu Desam pocketed 12 of the 24 wards while YSR Congress won in 11 and Jana Sena bagged one.

Meanwhile, Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy and Mydukur MLA Settipalli Raghurami Reddy exercising the ex-officio vote are to vote in favour of the ruling party. ....
