Woman’s Death: Dr Zafrullah, four others sued for ‘negligence’

Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury and four others have been sued over the death of a pregnant woman.
SA Alam Sabuj, husband of victim Nasrin Akter, filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate yesterday, Zahir Uddin, bench assistant of the court concerned, told The Daily Star.
The magistrate took the case into cognisance and recorded the complainant s statement.
The court also directed the Police Bureau of Investigation to investigate and submit a probe report by January 21 next year.
Dr Nasrin, Dr Shawkat Ali Arman, Dr Delowar Hossain and nurse Shangkari Rani Sarkar, who serve at the Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital, were also accused in the case. ....

Hefajat-e-Islam wants a dialogue with the government to resolve the ongoing problem centring installation of the sculpture of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The Qawmi-based madrasa organisation came up with the remark at a press conference at the Dhaka Reporters Unity saying the Alem community was trying to hold a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to this end.
We are appealing to the government to resolve the issue through discussion. We are also trying to hold a discussion with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina so that the ongoing problem can be resolved in an amicable way, said Mahfuzul Haque, a top Hefajat leader and also secretary general of the Madrasha Education Board (Befaq). ....
