The décor at Lower Burrell’s Fisher Hall was getting a bit too rustic for the times, so a city councilwoman and the public works department are working on a face-lift for one of the city popular social halls.
Located in Burrell Lake Park, Fisher Hall is the go-to venue for showers, graduations and other small events for 75 people or less.
However, the rustic, rough cut wood paneling hasn’t aged well and has been difficult to clean and keep clean, said Rosina Albanese, the Lower Burrell councilwoman leading the renovation project. ....

New $148,000 grant to replace old faulty waterlines in New Kensington, Lower Burrell

A $148,000 grant from the state Department of Community and Economic Development will help pay for a $400,000 project in New Kensington and Lower Burrell to replace three old waterlines that often break.
The Municipal Authority of New Kensington was awarded the state grant to replace:
• 1,300 feet of water main on Hill Street in Lower Burrell
• about 1,000 feet of water main in the 1300 block of Strawn Avenue in New Kensington
• about 1,150 feet of line on Boundary Way, between Forest and Martin avenues, in New Kensington ....
