A young girl has been left fighting for life with horrific burns after a LandCruiser allegedly ploughed into her bike then dragged her 173m down the road.
Sarah Degier, 11, was allegedly struck by a teenage driver while riding her bike to school in Dalby, 209km west of Brisbane, on Thursday morning.
The 18-year-old allegedly hit the schoolgirl as he was exiting a carpark, only becoming aware that something was wrong when horrified bystanders who heard her screams waved him down.
Sarah was allegedly dragged more than 100 metres across the bitumen, suffering extensive burn-related injuries due to the abrasions. ....

A young Dalby girl is undergoing significant surgery today as details emerge of how a horror incident unfolded where she was hit by a car while riding her bike to school before being dragged more than 170m underneath the vehicle.
It is understood the 18-year-old driver from Inverell, New South Wales was unaware the girl was caught under the vehicle and continued to drive for 173 metres before he was alerted by the child s screams and horrified onlookers who were flagging him down.
Four paramedics crews and police attended the scene and the girl was taken to Dalby Hospital before she was flown by a LifeFlight crew to Queensland Children s Hospital in Brisbane. ....

Girl hit by car in Dalby, rescue helicopter on the way

A rescue helicopter is set to shortly arrive in Dalby to transport a child who was hit by a car.
A Queensland Ambulance spokesman confirmed a primary school-aged girl suffered an arm injury and abrasions after she was hit by a vehicle near the Condamine and Archibald Sts intersection just before 8.09am.
Four paramedic crews arrived on the scene to treat the girl, with Queensland Police also in attendance.
She has been taken to Dalby Hospital in a stable condition, the Queensland Ambulance spokesman said.
