A statement from Civil Defence at 2.30pm outlined the level of flooding across Nelson Bays and the impact it had had on infrastructure.

The Motueka River bursts its banks near the outlet into Tasman Bay.
The forecast was showing that the heaviest rainfall has passed, and rivers were expected to recede over the next day.
While there may be isolated bursts of rainfall during the night, these were unlikely to affect the river flow levels.
Some of the local roads in Tasman District had also been damaged and could take some time to reopen. ....
