CNG national officials arrested by suspected security operatives in Kaduna

The Board of Trustee and Chairman, Coalition of Northern Groups, CNG, Nastura Ashir Shariff and its National Coordinator, Balarabe Rufai have been picked by men suspected to be security personnel this afternoon Thursday, February 04.
A statement from the CNG spokesman, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman could not give reasons for their arrest, stressing that, “We are still working to establish a connection with them or trace where they are taken to. Both their phone lines have been unreachable for the past two hours.”
The statement explained that their arrest may not be unconnected with a planned press briefing by the CNG at the NAF club Kaduna which was botched by the security. ....

Pantami lists benefits of new National Digital Innovation, Entrepreneurship Centre

The Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy has reeled out the benefits Nigeria stands to gain from the National Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre.
The groundbreaking ceremony of the centre located in Abuja was held on Thursday, where the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami, hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for his support on the project and the approval of the building.
Pantami said the President approved the building of the centre on the 11th of November 2020 during the FEC meeting after he made a detailed presentation to the Council on the project and successfully answered around 22 questions in the robust debate that followed the presentation. ....

'I didn't accuse Buhari of disappointing Nigerians' - Pastor Bakare denies comments


Bakare claimed that his comment during an interview with Dele Momodu, Publisher of Ovation Magazine was misquoted.
The clergyman was reported to have said Nigerians are feeling disappointed because they expected the Buhari-led government to bring about change.
He was quoted to have said Nigerians appeared to have been shortchanged by the APC-led government.
Dismissing the reports, Bakare explained that he only said Nigerians are entitled to say they are disappointed, amid the competing demands.
Appearing on Arise Television, the clergyman said, “The truth of the matter is, that was an Instagram live interview that lasted for over 2 hours and the audio and the video will be available, I’m sure the publisher of Ovation Media, Bashorun Dele Momodu, can make that available to the public. ....

NIN registration: Identifying every Nigerian will curb crime, achieve digital economy - Pantami


The Federal Government has noted that its efforts in encouraging Nigerians to register for the National Identity Number, NIN, under the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy is a strategic and critical effort to ensure that citizens have a credible, converged and consistent database for identity purposes.
Speaking at the Global Privacy Day Celebration, 2021, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami, said the value of the registration exercise would become appreciated with the ease at which e-government services would be delivered, the reduction in crime, and general efficiency guaranteed by the database.
According to the Minister, “Identifying every Nigeria is a soft infrastructure needed to achieve our digital economy objective. ....

His media aide, Paul Ibe, confirmed this on his Twitter page.
Atiku, who is currently in Dubai, UAE, received the first shot on January 6.
“H.E @atiku earlier today took his second dose of Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine.
“He had earlier had the first jab on the 6th of January,” Ibe tweeted.
The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine has been approved by several countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom.
The chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has said Nigeria will get its first shipment of the vaccine in February.
