With coronavirus cases on the rise, Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital s (CVPH) Adirondack Regional Blood Center is looking for plasma donations with COVID-19 antibodies. Christina Beck, the blood bank manager, explained how the process works. “If we can take the antibodies from somebody that has recovered from COVID, and transfuse them into a patient that is just starting to experience symptoms, it helps them recover faster and reduces the severity of the symptoms.”Right now, the challenge is finding people willing to donate. “We re looking for people that have recently been diagnosed with COVID that is willing to come into the donor center and donate their plasma so that we can then transfuse patients at this hospital and other hospitals in the North Country.”Diego Grinberg-Funes, a Urologist at CVPH, recovered from COVID-19 and he donated plasma out of a sense of responsibility. “Our infectious disease person here told me that my plasma has been used on quite a ....
