Man reaches plea deal, gets time served for sex abuse charge out of Trussville

TRUSSVILLE The man who forcefully grabbed a 14-year-old girl in the parking lot of the Trussville Walmart in 2017, pleaded guilty to one of two charges and has been released from jail.
Brent Lee Higginbotham, 29, of Ragland, was originally charged with one count of first degree sexual abuse by force and second degree sexual abuse, due to the age of the victim.
Detectives said Higginbotham grabbed one of the victim’s breasts as he placed his other arm around her waist in what may have been an attempt to pick her up, but she got away and called for help. ....

Walmart working with city to fight crime; Trussville PD moving back to substation

TRUSSVILLE The city of Trussville is in talks with Walmart’s district asset protection leaders about how to make the area safer for shoppers.
The meetings were spurred after a shooting on Feb. 2. No one was hurt in the shooting and police arrested 20-year-old Jordan Christopher Harris. Harris is now charged with attempted murder, criminal mischief second-degree and reckless endangerment.
After the shooting, Police Chief Eric Rush said he mobilized a specialized unit to fight crime around Walmart. He also said he would like Walmart to provide funding for Flock Safety cameras at the entrance of the property, in order to help curb crime. ....

A young Pinson man has been charged after shots were fired inside the Trussville Walmart.
Christopher Harris, 20, is charged with attempted murder, second-criminal mischief and reckless endangerment, said Trussville police Sgt. Adam Filetti. He was booked into the Jefferson County Jail at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday with bonds totaling $62,000.
The gunfire happened midday Tuesday. Filetti said Harris, a Walmart employee, got into an argument with a female employee. The female employee then called her brother to the store. ....
