Weekend rain leads to flooding in area | News, Sports, Jobs

WARREN Sunday’s steady rainfall caused flooding in some areas of Braceville and in Warren.
In Braceville, the surrounding areas near Eagle Creek experienced some flooding on Barclay Messerly, Braceville Robinson and Eagle Creek roads; however Trustee Dennis Kuchta said it’s common in the area during heavy rains.
He said the roads typically flood when there is an inch or more of rain. The National Weather Service reported 1.46 inches fell on the Mahoning Valley on Sunday. ....

Braceville leaders plan exotic-animal controls | News, Sports, Jobs

BRACEVILLE Braceville’s leaders are not monkeying around when it comes to exotic animal complaints.
Having heard from Braceville Robinson Road residents last year about problems with a property owner who had a monkey that ran in the neighborhood, township trustees have begun the process of adding a section on exotic animals to the zoning codes.
Trustee Aaron Young said at a trustees meeting this week that discussion has begun on including exotic animal regulations in the zoning codes to prohibit such animals that fall under that category.
He said residents complained last year about a monkey that ran in the 1000 block of Braceville Robinson Road. Residents have also told officials that in addition to a monkey, a lemur also was spotted at the same property. ....
