Community: Volunteer Sudbury is set to launch the Youth Engagement Council, or YEC. The YEC includes nine people ages 16-22 from Greater Sudbury who will create programs and outreach opportunities in the city. The goal is to promote volunteerism and to educate Sudbury youth about the importance of volunteering. Along with that, they’d like to spread the need for empowering, accessible and enjoyable volunteering amongst the youth here in our city. The Youth Engagement Council will officially launch on April 9. Members will take over Volunteer Sudbury’s Instagram account for the day. The promotions will begin at 10 a.m. and will run until 8 p.m. The group will promote the importance of what their group will mean to the city and the effort that they will put forth.
