Shuttle a 'big deal' for Foxton Beach residents accessing health care

The shuttle transported patients to Palmerston North Hospital for renal treatment, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
They could also be driven to dental and eye appointments, or even into town to do some chores.
“We can accommodate anything,” said Leiser. “As we get older in particular, it’s so important to have that social connection and get out.”
She said the drive to Palmerston North Hospital was long, especially if people were unwell. The shuttle often took people home in a hurry, before the vomit came after cancer treatment.
“The shuttle is extremely important to this community.”
The hospital connected them with users, and would call when they had a patient in need of a ride. ....
