21-year-old Grayling mom charged with child abuse of 3-week-old

CRAWFORD COUNTY, MI A Grayling woman has been charged with first degree child abuse after her 3-week-old infant was found to have multiple injuries that did not appear to be accidental. Kayla Daykin, 21, was arraigned in 46th District Court in Crawford County on Dec. 15 and her bond was set at $20,000.
According to the Michigan State Police, troopers were called to the Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital on Sept. 11 for a report of alleged child abuse. Troopers were met by a Child Protective Services officer who said the infant’s injuries were serious enough that the child was being flown to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids. Daykin had brought the infant to the hospital for a scheduled appointment. ....
