A former public school teacher and baseball coach in Hamilton who worked for years with the Toronto Blue Jays youth academy now faces two more sex charges, on top of ones announced previously in a separate case.
Hamilton police Const. Inderjit Bharaj said in a phone interview he couldn t reveal many details, but the new charges sexual assault and sexual interference against the 57-year-old were related to two separate historical cases. ....

A former lead instructor with the Toronto Blue Jays academy for young players faces two charges involving sexual offences against children.
John Douglas Hashimoto, 56, of Hamilton is charged with luring a child under 16 and an invitation to sexual touching, Halton Regional Police said in a release Thursday.
The release said Hashimoto is with the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy, but the MLB team later said in a statement to CBC Hamilton that he s a former employee. ....

HAMILTON - A lead instructor with the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy is facing child-luring charges.
Police in Halton Region say the accused is also active with Baseball Canada and with youth ball in Hamilton.
They say the 56-year-old man is also a retired teacher.
Investigators say he used handle David or David 46 online
They also believe there may be other victims.
John Hashimoto, of Hamilton, faces counts of luring a child under 16 years old and invitation to sexual touching.

TORONTO The Blue Jays have been named the 2020 recipient of the Allan H. Selig Award for Philanthropic Excellence, recognizing the organization’s “Blue Jays Community Commitment,” which raised $7.5 million to support those disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada.
The club’s work specifically addressed food insecurity and the social isolation that many young Canadians faced in 2020. This is the second Selig Award that the Blue Jays have received, with the first coming in ‘12 for its “Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy” initiative.
