Gardaí are called to university campus due to people playing sport and flouting rules

“There have been 21 instances recorded since the beginning of Level 5 restrictions where individuals initially refused to comply with instructions from security staff to leave sporting facilities.
“Each of these instances were escalated to the campus duty manager who directed available resources to the area concerned to ensure that social distancing was observed.
“In six of these cases, the campus duty manager contacted Donnybrook Garda Station to request assistance intervention.
“In addition, during the school mid-term last week, and better weather conditions, we have increased the presence of security throughout the campus.”
It comes as the latest report on Covid-19 showed two outbreaks last week were in a university or college location. ....

RTÉ staff were given 21 hours' notice of 'impromptu' event

RTÉ staff were given almost a full day’s notice of a controversial gathering that took place during lockdown at the broadcaster’s Donnybrook studio last year.
The reminder, issued in an internal communication more than 21 hours prior, is contrary to RTÉ’s previous claim that the event was an “impromptu” gathering.
The incident led to a Garda investigation to determine whether any Covid guidelines were breached in organising the event, with a file being recently submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The inquiry looked at how the event was organised and how this was communicated to other staff. ....
