WILMINGTON Billy Earl “Bill” Miller, 84, passed away Friday, Feb. 19, 2021, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare.
Bill was born July 12, 1936, in Robeson County, a son of the late Anderson Brooks Miller and Donnie Mae (Edwards) Miller. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Dorothy Blackburn Miller; daughter, Jerri Miller of Castle Hayne; sons, Gary Miller of Wilmington and Steve Grady, and his wife, Marla, of Wilmington; and six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Bill served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War era and then served several years in active reserves. He founded a local family subcontracting business that his sons still carry on today. He was a longstanding member of Wrightsboro Baptist Church and served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and on many church committees, as well as volunteered in many other capacities to serve for his Lord.
