PAWTUCKET – Construction of a new soccer stadium on the city’s riverfront is set to displace the five-year-old Taft Street Community Garden, but those behind the major development have been working with operators of the garden on an alternate location.
Dan Kroeber, of Fortuitous Partners, and Andrew Kennedy and Pat Kinghorn, of the community garden, last week presented the School Committee with a plan to move the garden to behind the Varieur School on Pleasant Street. The proposal will ultimately have to go before the City Council for approval. The move would be about a half-mile south in almost a straight line down the river. ....
