A Dunedin man responsible for a botched murder-suicide has more work to do in prison before he can be safely released, the Parole Board says.
Blair Wiremu Tamihana, 45, pleaded guilty to attempted murder and was jailed for three years and eight months when he appeared before the High Court at Dunedin in June last year.
After serving the minimum non-parole period of 22 months which included time spent on remand he came before the board last month. ....

A man who drunkenly forced himself on his elderly neighbour before assaulting police has been sent to prison.
Raukawa Knight, 42, was heavily intoxicated at the Brockville home he shared with his mother on January 13, the Dunedin District Court heard yesterday.
After becoming angry over the deteriorating state of his relationship, he started to destroy items including a TV and PlayStation. ....

In 2017, Daryen Leslie John Owens, 48, was jailed for 10 years after pleading guilty to attempted murder.
