With Covid situation improving, Mamata eases certain restrictions in Bengal

Mamata Banerjee on Monday said that as the number of active Covid-19 cases has come down in the state, her government relaxed a few restrictions allowing opening of retail shops including bookstalls from noon to 3 pm and construction activities after vaccinating workers.
Banerjee said that operations in the Information Technology and ITES sector shall also be allowed with 10 per cent of total strength to enable backend and maintenance works between noon and 3 pm.
Construction activities and operations in industries and manufacturing units will be allowed with onsite staff after workers are vaccinated for Covid-19. Employers shall give a prior intimation to the district magistrates concerned regarding the compliance on vaccination status of the staff and workers, she said reading out an order. ....

Kolkata: The city’s esteemed book fair is all set to be held in July. The 45th International Kolkata Book Fair would be organised at Salt Lake’s Central Park, fair organiser Publishers and Booksellers Guild announced on Thursday.
Covid had pushed the fair back. Guild president Tridib Chatterjee said, “Now we are expecting the election announcements and the board exams will start in May and end in June. So we have no earlier date than July.” ....

Kolkata: International Kolkata Book Fair which is considered to be a festival across West Bengal was being deferred due to the ongoing pandemic.
Addressing a press conference, President of Publishers and Booksellers guild, Tridib Chatterjee said that owing to the pandemic situation the book fair will be held in July with âBangladeshâ as the focal theme country.
â2021 is the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and it is also the 50th year of the independence of Bangladesh. The International Kolkata Book Fair 2021 will be dedicated to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Golden Jubilee year of independence of Bangladesh, mentioned Chatterjee. ....
