A VILLAGE pub has been granted permission to have a marquee in place over its beer garden for the next 12 months to help the venue through the coronavirus pandemic.
The Golden Lion pub, on Church Road, Rainford, had submitted a planning application for the retention of a marquee at the beer garden to the back of the premises.
Councillors granted permission by a majority vote during Tuesday evening s planning committee meeting.
Planning officer Melanie Hale recommended the plans be approved, saying the sustainability of the business is a top consideration .
The committee heard that permission would not normally have been required due to measures to help pubs and hospitality during the pandemic but that this application was needed because The Golden Lion is a listed building. ....
