A petition in the form of Public Interest Litigation has been moved in the Delhi High Court seeking directions on the Union of India through Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Government of NCT of Delhi to
remove the age limitations for deciding the beneficiaries of Covid-19 vaccination drive,
widen and allow private entities participation in vaccination drive, and carry out
door-to-door Covid-19 vaccination in national capital in light of the extremely alarming situation of resurgence of coronavirus cases. ....

PM Modi gets Covid vaccine at AIIMS; India's vaccine inoculation drive 2.0 begins

PM Narendra Modi took his first dose of the COVID19 vaccine at AIIMS Delhi today. He was administered Bharat Biotech’s COVAXIN. Ever since India approved its Covid-19 vaccine a section of the population had been expressing concerns and doubts regarding the efficacy of the vaccine. In an attempt to reinstate public trust, Prime Minister administered the vaccine jab and Modi was seen talking to the nurses while he received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
Two nurses Sister P Nivedita from Puducherry and Rosamma Anil from Kerala administered the vaccine to PM Modi at AIIMS. PM Modi will need his second dose in 28 days. P Niveda, the main nurse revealed PM Modi chatted with them calmly and remarked after receiving the vaccine: “Laga bhi diya aur pata bhi nahin chala (Already done? I didn’t even feel it).” The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) had approved Oxford AstraZeneca’s CoviShield and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin for restricte ....

The last couple of weeks has seen discussions around the vaccine for COVID and whether they are safe and effective.  While each person is entitled to his or her own view, it can indeed be confusing listening to the several experts and political commentators about this issue. From calling it the BJP vaccine, to expressing concerns on one of the vaccines being hastily approved for emergency use, one is unsure how the citizens of the country will respond.  
Most of the people alive today have grown up in times when vaccines have become an inseparable part of our life.  From the tetanus shots given to the mother even before one is born, to the primary immunisation provided to all new-born infants against vaccine preventable diseases, we have come to accept vaccines as part of our lifestyle.  Countries like India have developed enormous expertise in delivering immunisation programmes to millions of people across the country with a great degree of ....
