Two other troubled districts – Changlang and Longding – also need to be included in tourist circuit so that they develop on a par with other parts of the northeastern State, the Chief Minister said.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Monday assured legislators that the State government would urge the Centre for early clearance of the proposed tourism circuit in troubled Tirap district.
Responding to a query by senior Congress MLA Wanglin Lowangdong during Question Hour in the Assembly, Mr. Khandu said the State government had written a letter to the Union Tourism Ministry a few years ago to approve the proposal, which is awaiting clearance from the Union Home Ministry. ....

Port Blair, Feb 21 (UNI) In view of the larger interest of the development of these Islands, the Ministry of Defence has conveyed its decision to waive off the landing charges at Port Blair Airport initially for a period of three years for the promotion of international flights by airlines.

Sikkim government decides to open Ramam border checkpost for entry of foreigners

GANGTOK: To boost rural, religious and adventure tourism in Sikkim, the state government has decided to open the Ramam checkpost for entry of foreign tourists from March 1, an official said.
The Ramam checkpost in West Sikkim district will issue Restricted Area Permit (RAP) and Protected Area Permits (PAP) to foreigners.
At present RAP and PAP are issued to foreigners only at Melli and Rangpo, the official said. ....
