To check annual flooding, GNIDA to redesign Surajpur roads, drains | Noida News

The area near Surajpur collectorate was waterlogged on Wednesday
Greater Noida: The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has decided to redesign roads and drainage networks around Surajpur collectorate that gets flooded almost every year. The work will start after this monsoon, officials said.
The development authority has been facing a lot of criticism for not being able to prevent flooding in the area and other busy parts of the city. Although GNIDA had claimed it had taken preventive measures this time as well, steady rains that lasted for about 20 minutes resulted in waterlogging in many locations.
Currently, eight pumps are being operated to drain out water. “Surajpur collectorate building is at a lower level compared to the road adjacent to it. Also, the drains near the building do not discharge water properly as they remain choked with silt and garbage. It is extremely difficult to get inside the building when it rains,” said Ramesh Gautam, a resident of Mamura who visited the collectorate on Wednesday to apply for a welfare scheme.

Now, register waterlogging plaints on helpline | Noida News

NOIDA: Residents can now report instances of waterlogging and flooding on city streets directly to the local industrial development authority. Though the Noida authority spent crores to take preventive measures while carrying out civil work in June, waterlogging was reported from multiple spots on Tuesday and Wednesday after the downpour. Residents can now call on the monsoon relief line and register their complaints.
The authority issued the number 120-2423795 and officials said complaints will be handled within 24 hours.
While the condition of a large part of Noida-Greater Noida Expressway worsens every monsoon as the level of the carriageway does not end up channelising water to the storm water drains, water collects on the expressway at multiple spots between Sector 132 and Sector 148. However, the condition of the flooding and traffic movement has improved between Sector 126 and Dalit Prerna Sthal.

Centre sends fresh invite to protesting farmers, says not logical to discuss new MSP-related demand | India News

NEW DELHI: The Narendra Modi government on Thursday sent a fresh letter to the protesting farmers’ unions inviting them for talks. Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi met President Ram Nath Kovind and demanded a joint session of Parliament to repeal the three farm laws. The BJP retorted by daring the former Congress president for a debate.
Here are the top 10 developments of the day:
1. The centre extended a fresh invite to protesting farmer unions for talks, but made it clear that it would not be "logical" to include in the agenda any new demand related to minimum support price (MSP), saying it was out of the purview of three new farm laws. In a three-page letter written to 40 farmer leaders, agriculture ministry joint secretary Vivek Aggarwal said, "I again request you that the government has been discussing all issues with an open heart and good intention to end the protest, and will continue to do so. Kindly suggest a date and time (for the next round of talks)." The previous five rounds of talks between the government and the unions have failed to break the deadlock with the farmers insisting on the repeal of the three laws and camping at various border points of Delhi for nearly a month now. Aggarwal asked the union leaders to provide details of other issues they want to discuss. The talks will be held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi at a ministerial level, he said. On MSP, Aggarwal said the farm laws have no connection with the price regime nor would have any impact on the procurement of farm produce at the fixed rates.
