Kolkata, May 19 (IANS) The high-profile Narada sting case, in which four heavyweights of the ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal were arrested by the CBI on Monday, spilled over to Thursday as the hearing of the CBI plea to transfer the case to any other state remained inconclusive in the Calcutta High Court on Wednesday.

Narada graft case: Calcutta HC stays interim bail for Trinamool leaders

In a dramatic turn of events, a division bench of the Calcutta High Court stayed the interim bail granted to two arrested Trinamool Congress ministers, Firhad Hakim and Subrata Mukherjee; former minister Madan Mitra and former mayor Sovan Chatterjee.
The four will be in judicial custody and the case will come up for hearing on May 19 (Wednesday).
Arrested in an early morning operation by the CBI in connection with the Narada bribery case, the four had obtained an interim bail from the special court.
However, a division bench of the Calcutta High Court headed by acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice Arijit Banerjee stayed the interim bail granted to the accused on the grounds that “the manner in which pressure was sought to be put will not inspire confidence of the people in the rule of law.” ....

RIYADH Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman have sent cables of congratulation Norway’s King Harald V on the anniversary of his country s Constitution Day.
In their congratulatory messages, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince wished the Norwegian King good health and happiness and the government and people of Norway steady progress and prosperity.
Constitution Day is the national day of Norway and is an official public holiday observed on May 17 every year. Among Norwegians, the day is referred to simply as syttende mai, according to Wikipedia. ....
