Sir Ron Brierley has entered no plea during a court appearance in Australia on multiple charges of possessing child sex abuse material.
The former New Zealand businessman appeared via video link in Sydney on Thursday and remains on bail.
NSW Courts confirmed to Newshub he would next appear on February 4.
