Ranchi schools to continue with online classes amid surge in Cov numbers | Ranchi News

RANCHI: After testing drives were started at the city’s schools, 25 students of Indira Gandhi Balika Awasiya Vidyalaya (IGBAV) in Bundu were found to be Covid-19 positive in the last 48 hours. Meanwhile, schools across the state capital said they would wait for some time before switching over to offline classes for the new academic session and continue with the online classes amid a surge in the number of fresh cases.
Regional deputy director (education) Arwind Vijay Bilung said, “Tests were conducted at IGBAV after some of the students developed symptoms. Four students were found positive on Wednesday and were isolated within the hostel, but the tally rose to 25 on Thursday after 21 others tested positive through rapid antigen tests.” The reports of many other students are awaited. ....

Private schools defer offline classes for online exam plan | Ranchi News


Ranchi/Bokaro: While the state government has allowed the reopening of schools for Classes VIII, IX and XI from Monday, many private institutes remained closed as teachers and students are busy with online examinations and the difficulty in implementing on-campus Covid-19 safety rules. In Ranchi, management of schools like DPS (Ranchi), JVM Shyamli, Seventh Day Adventist and Oxford Public School will resume in-person classes from the next session in April.
DPS principal Dr Ram Singh said it was not possible to call students to campus as they are busy taking their annual exams online. “We will call them for the new session starting in April. We have enough space to ensure social distancing as lower classes have not been allowed to reopen. We also have adequate manpower to maintain other safety norms.” ....

Students adhere to new norms, miss old times | Ranchi News


Ranchi: After attending offline classes for around a month, most students in the city said they have become accustomed to the new normal of wearing masks and maintaining social distancing, among others. Notably, physical classes have resumed for Class X and Class XII batches in the state.
Alice Prisca, a Class XII student of Don Bosco Public School, said she misses the earlier times when she and her friends used to walk around the campus and share tiffin with each other during lunch break.
She said ,“ We diligently follow Covid protocols on the campus to curb the spread of the pandemic. Like everybody else, I’m also praying for life to return to normal.” ....

Pvt schools mull fee hike, parents' bodies slam decision | Ranchi News

RANCHI/JAMSHEDPUR: Private schools in Ranchi and Jamshedpur have decided to hike their fees after giving it a miss for a year during the pandemic when the state government requested against it. Although very few schools have implemented the fee hike until now, parents’ bodies slammed the decision and said schools should have been more understanding given that several parents have either faced pay cuts or have lost their jobs during the pandemic.
When contacted, Don Bosco Public School, Kokar said they have increased the fees by Rs 1,000 for all students, while principal of Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Shyamli, Samarjit Jana said, “Since we had not increased the fees in 2020, there is all likelihood that it will be hiked by 10% this year keeping in view the norms.” He also added that the decision in this regard will be taken in a meeting scheduled in the coming days. ....
