A man who was supposed to be leading by example for his son has appeared in Gladstone Magistrates Court on a drink driving charge.
Joven Santiago, 50, pleaded guilty on Friday morning to one count of being in charge of a motor vehicle while over the general alcohol limit but not over the middle alcohol limit.
Police prosecutor Tanya Griffiths read the facts of Santiago’s case to the court and Magistrate Bevan Manthey.

'Pain meds and VB': Drink-driver's dangerous cocktail

A man who consumed a cocktail of heavy beer and pain medication before driving faced Gladstone Magistrates Court on Friday.
Joseph Robert Staehr, 35, pleaded guilty to one count of drink-driving and driving an unregistered vehicle.
Police prosecutor Tanya Griffiths read the facts of Staehrâs case to the court and Magistrate Bevan Manthey.
She said at 1.28pm on August 24 last year, Tannum Sands police patrolling Tannum Sands Rd, intercepted Staehr for a roadside breath test.
He returned a reading of 0.076.
Staehr made admissions to police he had consumed four cans of VB over âa few hoursâ and had three strong painkillers prior to being intercepted. ....

A Gladstone carpenter will spend the first weeks of 2021 without a driver’s licence after being caught drug-driving.
Lance William Harvey, 35, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Thursday to the offence.
Police prosecutor Tanya Griffiths told the court that Gladstone police intercepted Harvey driving on the Dawson Highway, Clinton, at 10.24am on August 24.
Harvey submitted to a roadside breath test which returned a positive result and he was detained for further testing.
A subsequent drug test found the presence of cannabis in his system.
Duty lawyer Jun Pepito said his client had two previous drug-driving offences in the past five years, which warranted an immediate six-month driving suspension. ....
