Grubstake Days, which is held over Memorial Day weekend (May 28-31), will kick-off with a golf tournament Friday, May 28, at Hawk’s Landing Golf Course at 8 a.m. Instead of a parade down the highway, there will be a virtual parade featuring photos of residents in a western theme. It’s free to enter your photos. Entries will be entered in a drawing to win cash prizes. The Boys and Girls Club of the Hi-Desert will hold a Little Miss and Mister Miner personality contest. And the Friends of Pioneertown will hold its annual Pony Express ride to the Pioneertown Post Office. For more information, call the Chamber of Commerce at 760-365-6323. ....

The Early Childhood Education Department at Copper Mountain College recently donated 45 young children’s books to the college’s Greenleaf Library. The Library now has a new childhood section with books are bilingual, culturally diverse, and inclusive.
