Bangkok-listed utility Electricity Generating Public Co (Egco) has secured a licence to import LNG into Thailand, it said on July 22 in a stock exchange filing. The company had applied for the licence late last year.
Thailand’s Energy Regulatory Commission has allowed the company to import LNG to the amount of 200,380 metric tons (mt)/year. The licence is valid for 10 years. Egco will supply LNG to its three power plants: the 256 MW Banpong power plant, which requires 54,000 mt/yr of LNG; the 122 MW Klongluang plant, which needs 27,000 mt/yr; and the 100-120 MW Cogen Replacement plant which would use 119,000 mt/yr of LNG. ....

Thai state-run PTTEP booked a net profit of $376mn in the three months ending March 31 (Q1), up 37% year/year owing to higher product prices, it said on April 28.
The company s average realised price was $40.38/boe, up from $36.85/boe in the same quarter of last year. The company also recorded a gain from a non-recurring item of $350mn from the acquisition of the Oman Block 61 project. The average sales volume during the three-month period was at 382,877 boe/day, up from 363,411 boe/day. ....
