(Tara Yap) ILOILO CITY – Seventeen Chinese working for a coal-fired power plant in Concepcion, Iloilo have been infected with COVID-19. Concepcion Mayor Raul Banias confirmed that the 17 Chinese are among the 18 infected workers, including one Filipino, of a 135-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power plant owned by Palm Concepcion Power Corp. (PCPC), a subsidiary of A Brown Co. Banias said that the Filipino worker is among the seven new positive cases that were confirmed when test results were released Saturday, June 26. Last June 23, the coal-fired power plant’s medical unit informed the local government’s COVID-19 team that an employee had flu-like symptoms, leading to a swab testing of Chinese and Filipino workers. ....
