Stocks staged a sharp recovery at Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), paring almost all of the intraday losses by the closing bell on Thursday as investors reacted to series of positive news flow during the day. However, the index still closed in red, posting a loss of five points and clocked at 47,312 level.
On Thursday the index opened on a negative note where it lost 363 points on the concerns that the government is mulling over strict measures including imposing a lockdown as Covid positivity ratio has reached 30pc in the business hub of the country – Karachi. ....

Investment expected to contribute to national exchequer, job creation
KARACHI:
In line with increased demand, Thal Limited - a subsidiary of the House of Habib - is setting up a manufacturing plant for polypropylene woven bags in Hub with an investment of Rs1.7 billion.
“Polypropylene bags are used for multiple purposes ranging from the packaging of fertiliser and sugar to finished agricultural products,” said Topline Securities Deputy Research Head Shankar Talreja.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, he highlighted that fertiliser products alone generated a primary demand for 170-180 million bags of polypropylene. ....

Thal Ltd to set up Rs1.7bln plant

KARACHI: Thal Limited, a subsidiary of the House of Habib, is setting up a plant to manufacture polypropylene woven bags in Hub with an investment of Rs1.7 billion, a statement said on Monday.
Salman Burney, Vice Chairman of the House of Habib, performed the groundbreaking recently for the plant at the factory of Thal limited located in Hub, and it will be commercially operational by the end of February next year, it added.
The state-of-the-art plant, which has the capacity to produce 90 million bags annually, has been procured from Windmoller and Holscher of Germany.
“We are the pioneers of manufacturing industrial sacks and cement bags in Pakistan since 1973. Besides ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty, this new investment is to further increase our contribution to the national exchequer and employment generation,” Burney said. ....
