Islamabad: July 16, 2021 – Findings of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) conducted in Sindh were unveiled in a ceremony held in Karachi which was chaired by the Acting Chairperson, Planning & Development Board, Dr. Shereen Mustafa.
Welcoming the participants, Dr. Shereen Mustafa underscored the importance of MICS as a tool for making evidence-based decisions. “MICS is one of the credible sources of data. The quality of data is comparable to international set of standards. MICS data could be used to monitor and report progress on Sustainable Development Goals,” she said. ....

Multinational blacklisted for violating Mayo's CT Scan machine contract - Pakistan

LAHORE: The Punjab government has blacklisted a multinational and two local firms for violating service contract of the CT Scan machine (128 slice) and ancillary services with five-year warranty period for the Mayo Hospital, Lahore, and referred the case to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to launch a case against them.
The Rs200 million machine has been dysfunctional due to the technical faults the companies failed to address and caused a loss to the national exchequer.
The Punjab government also referred the matter to the managing director of the Punjab Procurement Regulatory Authority to debar the firm from procurement of all procuring agencies and upload the order on the official website of the authority. LAHORE: Provincial Development Working Party approved ten development schemes of various sectors with an estimated cost of Rs1,52,208.239 million. These schemes were approved in the 34th meeting of Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) of current fiscal year 2020-21 presided over the Chairman Planning & Development Board Abdullah Khan Sumbal.

LAHORE: Punjab Planning & Development Board in collaboration with World Bank and International Finance Corporation organised a colloquium on the promulgation of Commercial Court Ordinance 2021 on Monday.
The historical initiative taken by the Punjab government was fully supported by the Lahore High Court. The Lahore High Court notified commercial courts in five districts of Punjab including Lahore.
The ordinance will ensure expeditious disposal of claims arising from commercial transactions by introducing timeframe for decision of suits, e-filing of pleadings and limited number of adjournments.
