Thirty-eight Bangladeshis, who were stranded in India following the surge of coronavirus infection in the neighbouring country, have returned home so far through Hili land port in Dinajpur s Hakimpur upazila.
The immigration services of Hili land port reopened on May 16 after the government decided to resume the services on May 12.
Sikandar Ali, officer-in-charge of immigration at the land port, said 38 Bangladesh nationals from different districts came back till 3:00pm today, our Dinajpur correspondent reports.
The returnees must remain in 14-day quarantine at different hotels in the upazila at their own cost. The authorities already arranged accommodation for at least 60 returnees. ....

Later, the team sat with Indian immigration authorities and Border Guard Bangladesh.
Another team of district administration led by Deputy Commissioner Khaled Mohammad Zaki is scheduled to visit the check-post today.
Sekandar Ali, in-charge of Hili check-post, said no traveler entered Bangladesh through the check-post till 11:00am. Every returnee will have to stay in quarantine for 14 days, he said.
Sixty people can be accommodated at different residential hotels in Hakimpur while 80 in Birampur upazila.
If necessary, some will be sent to Dinajpur town and nearby Joypurhat district for quarantine, he said.
The UNO said the government recently decided to keep open the country s three immigration check-posts including Hili from May 16 maintaining health guidelines. ....

Train Rams Bus: Rail probe blames RHD, gateman, bus driver

The gatekeeper of Joypurhat s Puranpoil level crossing failed to lower the gate on time as he was either sleeping or drowsy, causing the accident that left 12 people dead and eight others injured, a railway probe found.
Holding gateman Nayon Miah main responsible for the accident, the committee has recommended his removal from the job. Nayon, who was recruited under a railway project, has already been suspended.
The committee also blamed the bus driver and the Roads and Highways Department for the accident.
The four-member probe committee, led by Nasir Uddin, divisional transport officer (Paksey) of Bangladesh Railway (BR), submitted their report on Saturday night. ....
