Mangaluru, Feb 2: The city corporation has before it the ambitious plan of ensuring uninterrupted water supply throughout to the citizens of the city through its Jalasiri scheme. At the same time, it is ignoring several spots from where water is flowing out continuously due to ruptured pipes. One such example is visible at the main road at Karangalpady.
Water is draining away in front of the gate of St Aloysius higher primary school on Kudmul Ranga Rao Road since the last some months. But for some strange reason, the corporator of the area and the water supply officials of the city corporation seem to have failed to notice this. Even though the stream is thin, the water that has gone waste since the last two months accounts for thousands of litres. Locals and pedestrians too are upset that the leakage is not repaired. ....

Mangaluru, Jan 26: For the year 2021-22, Mangaluru City Corporation presented a surplus budget, with the opening balance of Rs 283.53, an income of Rs 609.92 crore and with total expected income of Rs 893.45, the total expected expenditure will be Rs 576 crore and the expected final balance is Rs 317.18 crore.
Mangaluru City Corporation chairperson (MCC), standing committee on taxation, finance and appeals, Kiran Kumar presented the budget for the year 2021-22. Kiran Kumar said, The vision of 2021-22 budget will be on additional importance for nature and water conservation, emphasis on hygiene and cleanliness, special importance for welfare, health and education sectors, importance to complete the pending developmental works and priority will be given to administration and economic improvement. ....

Dakshina Kannada district-in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary hoisted the Indian tri-colour flag after receiving the guard of honor.

In his address, Kota Srinivas Poojary said, ‘As many as 43,939 beneficiaries have registered under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana till 2020. The department of backward classes welfare has approved 19 sites for the construction of hostels for the students. For the year 2020-21, the government has released Rs 280 lac to provide basic facilities to the colonies of scheduled caste. Under the Rs 100 crore of town development scheme of the municipal body, as many as 137 works have been completed and five works have been stopped,’ said Poojary. ....
