A group of Harapan Plus senators belonging to the Dewan Negara People s Wellbeing caucus today rebutted their chairperson, Senator Razali Idris, over his remarks likening online criticism of the government to a serious mental illness.
The group of 21 senators noted Razali s call for sterner actions against any form of incitement, obscenities and insults towards the government, either through a new law or amendments to Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
He appears to be extra vulnerable to harsh public criticisms on the government s weaknesses in managing the Covid-19 pandemic, to the point of being willing to silence the public s freedom of expression, contrary to basic human rights. ....

Business premises, religious centres encouraged to expand food bank concept

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): All business premises and religious centres are encouraged to expand the concept of food banks to help ease the burden of the people, says Dewan Negara People’s Well-Being Caucus Committee chairman Senator Datuk Razali Idris.
He said every business premises, either large or medium scale supermarkets, as well as different types of markets (wet markets, farmers’ markets and night markets); grocery stores; restaurants; eyewear shops; pharmacies and petrol stations could provide a special section to supply basic necessities for the purpose.
As there is uncertainty in business and economy now, not every business premises is obliged to provide food bank space but it is still a commendable act and entirely depends on their ability. ....

KUALA LUMPUR: There should be zero bureaucracy in the delivery system to ensure that distribution and assistance under the newly rolled out Permai package can be expedited, said Dewan Negara People’s Well-being Caucus Committee.
The RM15bil Malaysian Economic and Rakyat’s Protection Assistance Package is proof that the government places priority on the people’s welfare, economic and public health concerns, said its chairman Senator Datuk Razali Idris.
“With the incentives, assistance, facilitations and improvements provided by Permai, I am confident that the approach taken by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and the Cabinet has provided the right growth impetus towards the well-being of the people and country, ” he said. ....
