My interest in the climate crisis began when I watched The Human Element at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival in March 2019. The film inspires us to reevaluate our relationship with the natural world. In a follow up discussion after the showing, efforts of people involved in the Island Climate Action Network (ICAN) impressed me, and I realized a need to get involved in local grass roots efforts to increase awareness of the climate crisis.
I urge each of you to get involved as even with a new president, so much will depend on grass roots efforts. I have been and continue to participate in several groups working to educate others on the climate crisis and to guide them in ways that will reduce their carbon footprints. In all cases, we have been meeting via Zoom for a year now. I worry that a relatively small number of us are very involved and know a lot about the problems facing us, but is learning more an ....

County officials approved spending up to $50,000 to get a new boiler installed in the Dukes County Courthouse at an emergency meeting Tuesday night of the Dukes County Commission and the County Advisory Board.
The decision comes a day after the Edgartown courthouse was closed for court business because the building’s boiler was found “cracked and leaking” on Saturday, county commission chair Christine Todd told The Times. ....
