The Polio National Immunisation Day, which is also popularly known as Polio Ravivar , is being observed on Sunday (January 31) across the country. President Ram Nath Kovind had a day ago launched the Pulse Polio Programme 2021 by administering polio drops to children below five years of age at Rashtrapati Bhawan in Delhi.
The countrywide immunisation programme was earlier scheduled to start from January 17, however, it was deferred due to the Covid-19 vaccination drive which started on January 16.
The three-day polio vaccination drive will continue till 2 February. The vaccination programme for the eradication of polio is organised twice a year. ....

The Pulse Polio Immunisation (PPI) programme was conducted successfully all over the district on Sunday. District Medical and Health Officer P.S. Suryanarayana said 97.2% of targeted 4,81,517 children from zero to five years of age were administered polio drops. Greater Viasakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner G. Srijana got the polio drops administered to her son as part of the programme at China Waltair Urban Health Centre on Sunday.
She urged all parents, with children in the target age group (0-5 years), to get the drops administered to their children. Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Development Region Authority (VMRDA) Commissioner Koteswara Rao and his wife also got the drops administered to their son. ....

At Anantnag, Deputy Commissioner, Anshul Garg inaugurated Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) Programme, 2021 at Maternity & Childcare Hospital Anantnag. The DC started the campaign by administering oral anti-polio vaccine drops to the newborn infants in presence of CMO and Superintendent M & CCH Anantnag.
CMO Anantnag, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad on the occasion informed the DC that 146152 children will be administered pulse polio drops in the district. He added that 650 pulse polio booths have been setup in the district, besides, 14 transit booths have also been established for the effective and successful implementation of the programme. ....

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], January 31 (ANI): Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Sunday launched a Pulse Polio Immunisation (PPI) programme, under which pulse polio drops will be administered to over 6 lakh kids below the age of 5 from January 31 to February 3.
Launched the Pulse Polio 2021 immunisation campaign and administered Polio drops to children. I urge all parents to ensure their children up to 5 years are given polio drops without fail, tweeted Yediyurappa after launching the programme at his residence s office.
