More than 700 fines for Covid breaches issued in Limerick

MORE than 700 fines for breaches of Covid-19 regulations have now been issued in Limerick, new figures have revealed.
According to data, published this Friday evening, members of An Garda Siochána in Limerick, have issued a total of 702 Fixed Charge Notices - the third highest for any division in the country.
The Fixed Charged Penalty regime was introduced late last year and as January 18, a total of 7,697 fines had been issued and processed nationwide.
6,297 for leaving home without a reasonable excuse
212 for organising an unauthorised event/gathering (including house parties) ....

Number of fines issued increases by 53 inside a week

Gardaí have issued 170 fines for breaches of Covid-19 regulations in the Roscommon / Longford division, new figures published this evening have revealed.
That is an increase of 53 on the 117 figure that was published a week earlier. 
6,297 for leaving home without a reasonable excuse
212 for organising an unauthorised event/gathering (including house parties)
747 for attending unauthorised event/gathering (including house parties)
155 for the non-wearing of face coverings
263 for non-essential travel to airports or ports
According to An Garda Síochána almost half of all fines, issued to date, related to breaches which were detected at weekends (22% on Saturdays and 23% on Sundays) with 75% of all fines being issued to men. ....

A Cullohill resident has been appointed Deputy Garda Commissioner.
Anne Marie McMahon was appointed by the Government on Tuesday, February 9 alongside Dr Shawna Coxon following a competition run by the Policing Authority.
Anne Marie McMahon will take up the role of Deputy Commissioner, Policing and Security in March.
Dr Shawna Coxon will take up the role of Deputy Commissioner, Governance, Strategy and Performance when she joins the organisation in April 2021.
Anne Marie McMahon was Acting Deputy Commissioner, Governance, Strategy and Performance, An Garda Síochána. 
Anne Marie has served in An Garda Síochána since 1986 in a variety of roles including Assistant Commissioner, Southern Region; Head of Training in the Garda College; Chief Superintendent, Community Engagement; and Superintendent, Bruff and Roxboro Districts. Anne Marie also served with the UN mission in Cambo ....
