NDP calls for transparent investigation into shooting of Cornelius John

The New Democratic Party (NDP), said it is “extremely concerned about the profoundly disturbing matter of the shooting and beating of a man just over three weeks ago and the involvement of a Senator and a senior public official and a third person as alleged assailants”.
In a release dated May 8, 2021, the party pointed out that St. Vincent and the Grenadines is a country of laws and “we believe in the Rule of Law which guarantees the equality of all citizens before the law”.
The party said it believes as well in the transparent and fair administration of justice and abhor the abuse or misuse of power. ....

Mr Parnel Campbell, QC affectionately called ‘PR’ was a long-standing senior member of the legal profession in St Vincent and the Grenadines and the OECS. He was well-known as a lawyer and politician throughout the Caribbean.
PR Campbell was a true nation builder. He contributed to national development in many ways and will be remembered as a man whose life exemplified a commitment to public service. He did so as a politician, as a political commentator and as a vocal champion of the rule law and of public order. ....

NASSAU, BAHAMAS Tempers flared in the House of Assembly yesterday with both the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly lashing out at party leaders.
A shouting match between Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly Don Saunders and Opposition Leader Philip Davis saw the Cat Island, Rum Cay and San Salvador MP escorted out of Parliament during the evening session.
Davis rose to his feet to take issue with Saunders’ treatment of Englerston MP Glenys Hanna-Martin, who was seeking to raise a point of order but was asked to stand down.
The Opposition Leader was denied but refused to sit down and got into a shouting match with Saunders, who stood to his feet several times to ask for Davis to be escorted from the Lower Chamber. ....
