ALTHOUGH the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP) which began on Feb 24 provides light at the end of the tunnel, the continuous four-digit daily infection figures for more than one month left Malaysia with no option other than country-wide lockdown effective from May 12.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced on May 10 that Malaysia would be under the third movement control order (MCO 3.0) until Jun 7.
“With daily cases exceeding 4,000 and active cases at 37,396 as well as 1,700 deaths reported as of May 10, Malaysia is facing a third Covid-19 wave that could trigger a national crisis,” he added. ....

Govt allocating RM20.7b for Wage Subsidy Programme, says Tengku Zafrul


KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 27): The Wage Subsidy Programme (PSU) announced by the government in 2020 and 2021 amounted to a total of RM20.7 billion.
Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said the allocation for the Wage Subsidy Programme so far this year amounted to RM3 billion.
With the expansion of the scope to include all companies affected by the movement control order (MCO), PSU 3.0 will receive an additional allocation of RM500 million, bringing the amount to RM1.5 billion under PERMAI (the Malaysian Economic and Rakyat Protection Assistance Package).
This is on top of RM1.5 billion announced during Budget 2021, he said in the 38th Implementation and Coordination Unit Between National Agencies (LAKSANA) report today. ....

KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 21): Malaysia has the right formula to position it on the recovery path in terms of both public health and the economy, said Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.
He said the combination of the recent decisions involving the Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) and the Statutory Reserve Requirement (SRR) as well as Budget 2021 initiatives and the Malaysian Economic and Rakyat’s Protection (PERMAI) assistance package including the expediting of vaccine procurement and encouraging screening of employees were seen as the right formula.
“Most importantly, the measures must be seen in totality, not in isolation,” he said in presenting the 37th Implementation and Coordination Unit Between National Agencies (LAKSANA) Report today.  ....
